What is the purpose of this medicine?

Artificial Tears (ahr FISH Uhl Teerz) relieve dry eyes and irritation.

You may also use this medicine for other purposes. Ask your pharmacist or health care provider if you have any questions.

COMMON BRAND NAME(S), Advanced Eye Relief Nighttime, Altalube and Artificial Tears.

Before I take this medication, what should I tell my doctor?

  • Vision change
  • Eye infection or trauma
  • wear contact lenses
  • Unusual or allergic reactions to artificial tears, medicines, foods dyes, preservatives, and other medicines
  • Are you pregnant?
  • breast-feeding

What should I do with this medicine?

This medicine should only be used in the eyes. Do not swallow. Follow all directions. Before and after using, wash your hands. Apply a little ointment to the inner eyelids. Allow the eye to contact the eye’s surface for a few seconds by closing it gently. Use a clean cloth to remove any remaining medication. Regularly take your medicine. Use your medicine only as directed.

Discuss the possibility of using this medicine with children with your paediatrician. This medicine can be used in special conditions for children as young as six, but caution must be taken.

Overdose: If you feel you have taken too many of these medicines, contact the poison control centre immediately.

What happens if I forget a dose?

Do not miss a dose. Use the next dose only if it is near time. Do not take extra or double doses.

What are the possible interactions with this medicine?

Interactions should not be expected. Eye drops should be used approximately 10 minutes before applying the eye ointment.

Tell your health care provider if you smoke, drink alcohol, and use illegal drugs. You might need to know that some items can interact with your medication.

What should I be aware of when using this medicine?

Eye pain, vision changes, redness, irritation, or discomfort that lasts more than 72 hours should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Avoid contacting the tip of the container with any other surface to prevent contamination. This medicine should not be shared with anyone else. Do not use the product if it changes in colour.

Contact lenses should be removed before you apply the ointment to your eyes. Before putting the ointment into your eyes, wait at least 15 minutes.

What side effects might I experience from taking this medicine?

You should immediately report any side effects to your doctor.

  • Allergies such as skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of lips, cheeks, and tongue, allergic reactions,
  • Vision change
  • Eye irritation or redness that persists for more than 72 hours or gets worse
  • Eye pain

Side effects are usually not serious and do not require medical attention. If they persist or become bothersome, please notify your doctor.
