Christina Piercing

Here are the Things You Need to Know Before You Get a Christina Piercing

A Christina piercing involves piercing the cleft at Venus. This is where the labia majora, aka the outer lips, join together, just below the clitoral hood.

The piercing extends vertically from the aperture to the mons Pubis, the fleshy mound that rises above the aperture.

It is similar to a bellybutton puncturing but lower (obviously).

What are the sexual benefits?

It’s not.

A Christina, unlike a clitoris that pierces and increases sensation, is strictly ornamental. Although it is close to the clit it is not close enough to the nerve-rich nub to feel any of the pleasures.

However, sex can still be a benefit.

For your benefit

Although you may not feel any additional pleasure from the piercing, it can make you more confident in your sexuality.

2019 study showed that positive self-image in the genital area was strongly linked to:

  • a more positive body image
  • Reduced stress around sexual performance
  • Increased sexual pleasure
  • Improved sexual function

Your partner’s benefit

Your partner could benefit from your piercing.

Some people are attracted to your piercing simply by being aware of it. They may also try to stimulate your piercing during oral sex.

Your increase in sexual confidence will also benefit them. Your improved sexual functioning and confidence are sexy, which is why it’s a win-win situation for everyone.

The piercing may also increase clit stimulation for your partner in vulva – on vulva play.

Is it possible to get one?

Nope.

Each vulva is unique in its shape and tissue content, which both matter when it comes time to place this piercing.

Your mons pubis must have plenty of pliable tissue for this piercing technique to work. To accommodate jewellery, you will need to create a divot that is deep enough to reach the top of your hood.

If you want to know if your body is Christina-friendly feel the area above your clitoris, where your outer labia meet.

You’re good to go if it’s easy to grab. A Christina won’t fly if there is nothing to grab.

Book a consultation with an experienced piercer to help you make a decision.

What kinds of jewellery can be used for this piercing procedure?

The most popular jewellery styles for Christina piercings are metal L-bars and curved barbells.

After your genital piercing is healed, you can swap your jewellery for a Christina.

What options do I have for metals?

There are many materials available. Choosing jewellery made of high-quality, safe metals resistant to allergic reactions, infection, and other toxic substances would be best.

The Association of Professional Piercers recommends solid 14-karat or higher gold or implant-grade metals approved by the ASTM International and International Organization for Standardization.

  • This material is considered to be implant-grade stainless steel. It’s safe and affordable. Although it contains nickel, the low rate at which it releases makes it safe for people who have a nickel allergy. It would be best to look for pieces that conform to ASTM-F138 and ISO-5832-1.
  • High-quality titanium for implant use. If you have nickel allergies, your piercer may recommend this product. It would be best if you looked for ASTM F136-compliant titanium jewellery.
  • Solid 14-karat or higher gold. Avoid gold-plated items as they can cause flaking and expose you to nickel or other alloys.
