Vibration platforms are also known as shaking machines or shaking platforms. They use whole-body vibrations that cause your muscles to contract reflexively. These machines are available at some gyms and can be purchased for home use.
These machines vibrate so people can do exercises such as squats, pushups, and crunches.
Vibration machines are supported by those who believe that vibration machines make muscles work harder, can help you lose weight, build muscle and become stronger.
There is very little high-quality research on these devices’ effectiveness now. Although there is some evidence that they might help with weight reduction and muscle growth, more research is required to determine how effective they are compared to traditional exercise.

Benefits of Whole body vibration machine
Research has shown that whole-body vibration machines can have many health benefits. These include helping to lose weight and increase muscle mass. More research is required to determine their effectiveness in comparison to traditional exercise.
Most currently published studies do not have large sample sizes and focus on the effects of vibration machines only on those who are physically inactive or obese.

Weight loss
A 2019 review of studies looked at the fat-loss potential of whole-body vibration machines on humans. Seven studies were selected by the researchers, with a total participation of 280 people.
The whole-body vibration was effective in fat loss but not in reducing body fat percentage. This is even though studies lasting less than six months were conducted.
These researchers concluded that it is necessary to conduct more extensive studies to evaluate whole-body vibration machines accurately.
Lower blood pressure
A 2012 study looked at the effects of vibration training on arterial stiffness and blood pressure in 10 overweight or obese young women.
Participants were either in a vibration training group for six weeks with three sessions or exercised as a control group. Participants in the exercise group did a combination of squats and calf raises.
The women who received vibration training experienced a significant drop in their systolic blood pressure after 6 weeks. This was significantly lower than the control group.
While it is not clear how effective vibration training can be compared to other forms of exercise, it could be an option for those unable to do traditional exercise.
Increased strength
The same 2012 study showed that women who had done vibration training experienced an 8.2-kilogram (18-pound!) increase in leg extension strength.
Researchers looked at the potential health benefits of vibration training for women in their 20s who are not obese in a second 2012 study. They received training twice each week for 8 weeks.
The researchers observed a significant improvement among the 36 women who participated in the study. This is a measure of lower body strength.
Better body composition
Researchers also discovered a significant reduction in women’s skin folds and an overall decrease in body fat in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medical study. This was at the end of eight weeks.
A 2016 study examined the effects of vibration training on the body composition of middle-aged obese women. The three groups were divided into the following:
- Only dieting
- Vibration and dieting
- Aerobic exercise and dieting
The three groups lost body weight, but the third and fourth groups lost more than the first.
Researchers concluded that vibration training with a diet plan was as effective as an aerobic exercise program for 9 months.
